Call for applications – PhD grants in quantum sciences and technologies in Grenoble

We are launching a common PhD call in Grenoble in quantum sciences and technologies, supported by the QuanTEdu-France PhD program and the Labex QuantAlps.

Candidates are encouraged to apply to both programs if they fulfill the corresponding eligibility criteria. We strive for gender diversity and equality in the profiles of the selected candidates, and we are particularly committed to support women in quantum sciences and technologies.

QuanTEdu-France

We are seeking talented and motivated applicants in the domains of physics, computer science, electrical engineering and mathematics, for a PhD thesis in quantum technologies. Thesis topics have to cover quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum communication, quantum sensors or quantum metrology.

QuantAlps LabEx

We are seeking talented and motivated applicants in the domain of physics, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, and humanities, for a PhD thesis in quantum sciences. The PhD thesis project must fulfil at least one of the LabEx synergy criteria : i) co-supervision by researchers belonging to two different teams of the QuantAlps laboratories; ii) interdisciplinary or inter-LabEx project; iii) collaboration with R&D laboratories or companies.

Practical information

  • PhD Starting date: October 1st, 2025 to January 1st, 2026
  • Gross monthly salary prior to employee tax deduction: starts from €2,200 for both QuanTEdu-France and QuantAlps-LabEx. An additional €5,000 travel allowance is awarded to finance missions (registration, travel and accomodation) during the thesis for QuanTEdu-France applicants.
  • Duration: 36 months

Application procedure:

From February 3rd,2025 at 2PM CET, until the call's deadline, the candidates must apply to eligible programs using the online interface.
In order to access the call, the applicants must sign up to Deposibus, and verify the email sent to their address before being able to access the application form.

As part of their application, the candidates must present a PhD project together with their future supervisors, following the instructions detailed in the Scientific Program Form. The application guide details the information required, as well as the additional documents that must be provided and attached online.

Timeline of the call:

  • February 3rd, 2025, at 14:00 (Central European Time): Launch of the application interface (the link will be active from 2PM).
  • By March 14th, 2025 at 17:00 (Central European Time) the application should be finalized and submitted through the application platform and the reference letters should be sent by email to "quantum-grenoble-phd@listes.grenoble.cnrs.fr". If you do not have your Master 2 grades by March 14th, you can send your official results before April 1st by email to "quantum-grenoble-phd@listes.grenoble.cnrs.fr".
  • April 28th to 30th, 2025: selection of candidates for an interview. All applying candidates will be informed of the outcome of this stage within one week's time.
  • June 5th & 6th, 2025: interview of the selected candidates
  • June 10th, 2025: information on the outcome of the selection
  • June 16th, 2025: acceptance of the positions is required from the selected candidates
