Chair of Excellence 2027

QuantAlps is inviting applications from outstanding researchers to lead a 3-year research program as part of the Chairs of Excellence initiative funded by LabEx QuantAlps.

What’s the Opportunity?

This program supports research aligned with QuantAlps' research themes.

The selected Chair will spend 9 months in Grenoble over a period of 3 years, collaborating with researchers from several QuantAlps laboratories and departments and services.

Eligibility: Candidates must hold a permanent academic position outside France. Local project coordinators must be permanent researchers in QuantAlps labs.

Award Package

  • Travel and accommodation funding: up to €60,000 (including per diem)
  • Funding to recruit a PhD student for 3 years or a postdoc for 2 years
  • Additional research support funds: up to €35,000

Program start: Between May 1, 2027, and January 31, 2028

Selection Criteria

  • Relevance to QuantAlps' research themes
  • Scientific excellence of the applicant
  • Quality and clarity of the research proposal
  • Potential for strengthening international collaboration and visibility of QuantAlps
  • Contribution to synergy between different laboratories, departments and services within QuantAlps ecosystem
  • Plans for pedagogical activities and scientific events in Grenoble

Call's Timeline

  • July 2nd, 2026 at noon (CEST): Application platform opens
  • By October 30, 2026 at 12:00 (CET): Projects must be submitted
  • Nov–Dec 2026: External review of applications
  • Mid-Jan 2027: Shortlist announced
  • Feb 2027: Presentations by local coordinators to the selection committee
  • Early March 2027: Final results published
