Call for applications – PhD grants in quantum sciences and technologies in Grenoble

We are launching a common PhD call in Grenoble in quantum sciences and technologies, supported by the doctoral European program QuanG2, the QuanTEdu-France PhD program and the Labex QuantAlps.

Candidates are encouraged to apply to those programs if they fulfill the corresponding eligibility criteria. We strive for gender diversity and equality in the profiles of the selected candidates, and we are particularly committed to support women in quantum sciences and technologies.

QuanG2 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND programme

We are seeking talented and motivated applicants in the domains of physics, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry and humanities, for a PhD thesis in quantum sciences and/or technologies. The thesis project has to plan a secondment in a company (2 months) or in an international academic laboratory (4 months). Applicants have to satisfy the EU MSCA mobility criteria i.e. they must have not spent more than 12 months in France during the last three years (i.e., between March 15th 2023 and March 16th 2026), not including holidays.

QuanTEdu-France

We are seeking talented and motivated applicants in the domains of physics, computer science, electrical engineering and mathematics, for a PhD thesis in quantum technologies. Thesis topics have to cover quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum communication, quantum sensors or quantum metrology. A detailed scientific project will be required at the time of application, prepared collaboratively by the supervisor and the candidate.

QuantAlps LabEx

We are seeking talented and motivated applicants in the domain of physics, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, and humanities, for a PhD thesis in quantum sciences. The PhD thesis project must fulfil at least one of the LabEx synergy criteria : i) co-supervision by researchers belonging to two different teams of the QuantAlps laboratories; ii) interdisciplinary or inter-LabEx project; iii) collaboration with R&D laboratories or companies. A detailed scientific project will be required at the time of application, prepared collaboratively by the supervisor and the candidate.

Practical information:

  • PhD Starting date: October 1st 2026 to January 1st 2027.
  • Gross salary prior to employee tax deduction
    • 2300 euros for QuanTEdu-France and QuantAlps Labex;
    • 2400 euros for QuanG2 
  • Travel Allowance: Additional travel allowance will be granted by QuanG2 and QuanTEdu programs.
    • For QuanG2, it will cover up to 10k€ the secondment costs including travel and accommodation, and the participation to international conferences and schools.
    • For QuanTEdu-France, a funding of 5k€ is awarded to finance missions during the thesis.
  • Doctoral School: Yearly enrollment to Université Grenoble Alpes is around 500 € (covered only by QuanG).
  • Duration: 36 months

QuanG2 application procedure

QuantAlps Labex and QuanTEdu application procedure

QuantAlps and QuanTEdu are reserved to a  supervisor-candidate pair who will prepare jointly a research project. Interested candidates should directly contact potential supervisors who are proposing thesis projects and submit the application through the online interface. Please note that it is the candidate who submits the application through the online interface, not the supervisor.

  • January 26th, 2026, at 14:00 (Central European Time): launching of online application interface
  • March 16th, 2026 at 12:00 (Central European Time): application deadline
  • From 20th to 24th April 2026: Shortlisting
  • From 25th to 29th May 2026: Interviews in Grenoble
  • Wednesday, June 3rd 2026: Results
