Electronic structure and lattice dynamics in kagome metals

Seminar Research

Quantalps federation is pleased to announce the following Quantum Materials Seminar by Santiago Blanco-Canosa (DIPC, San Sebastian, Spain).
Abstract: The long range electronic modulations recently discovered in the geometrically frustrated kagome lattice have opened new avenues to explore the effect of correlations in materials with topological electron flat bands. Here, I will present ARPES and IXS data to comprehensively study the electronic structure and lattice dynamics of kagome metals hosting CDWs. We will navigate through different examples of kagome systems whose CDW origin is highly controversial, implying a phonon collapse at a different propagation vector as the periodic lattice distortion [1], phonon freezing without softening [2] and order-disorder transformations [3], akin to the canonical spin glasses.
