Chair of Excellence 2026

LabEx QuantAlps is inviting applications from outstanding researchers to lead a 3-year research program as part of the Chairs of Excellence initiative.

What’s the Opportunity?

This program supports research aligned with QuantAlps research themes.

The selected Chair will spend 9 months in Grenoble, collaborating with researchers from several QuantAlps laboratories and departments and services.

Eligibility: Candidates must hold a permanent academic position outside France. Local project coordinators must be permanent researchers in QuantAlps labs.

Award Package

  • Travel and accommodation funding: up to €60,000 (including per diem)
  • Funding to recruit a PhD student for 3 years or a postdoc for 2 years
  • Additional research support funds: up to €35,000

Program start: Between May 1, 2026, and January 31, 2027

Selection Criteria

  • Relevance to QuantAlps research themes
  • Scientific excellence of the applicant
  • Quality and clarity of the research proposal
  • Potential for strengthening international collaboration and visibility of QuantAlps
  • Contribution to synergy between different laboratories, departments and services within QuantAlps ecosystem
  • Plans for pedagogical activities and scientific events in Grenoble

Call's Timeline

  • July 1st, 2025 at noon (CEST): Application platform opens
  • By October 31, 2025 at 23:59 (CET): Projects must be submitted
  • Nov–Dec 2025: External review of applications
  • Mid-Jan 2026: Shortlist announced
  • Feb 2026: Presentations by local coordinators to the selection committee
  • Early March 2026: Final results published
